DescriptionAn annotated bibliography: Choose a bioethical issue not covered in Meilaenders book. Some options might be maternal care, care of critically ill newborns, managing chronic illness, athletic performance-enhancing drugs, human cloning, HIPAA, animal care ethics, and eco-ethical issues. If there is another issue you want to research, contact me for approval. Create an annotated bibliography of at least 5 additional theological or Christian ethical resources that address this issue. At least 3 of these must be from academic scholarly resources, for example peer-reviewed articles, chapters in scholarly books, or articles in theological encyclopedias. Other resources can be from popular sources, but these must still be high quality, for example articles from high quality Catholic magazines, articles from general encyclopedias, or chapters in popular Catholic books. For each resource, provide a brief annotation a short paragraph of at least 150 words describing the content of each resource and evaluating its usefulness for understanding the bioethical issue under consideration. Then propose a thesis and write two more paragraphs explaining which principles are involved and how you would approach the issue. A movie analysis: Watch one of the following movies and write up an evaluation of the bioethical issues involved. If there is another movie you would like to analyze, contact me for approval. Your essay must identify the ethical issue involved, an analysis of what ethical dilemma the characters in the movie are facing, and what theological or Christian ethical principles are involved in this analysis. While this option does not require additional research, you should use and cite our course readings in your analysis. Do not include a plot summary in your review of the movie. If you cite a quote or reference a scene in the movie, provide a citation with the director’s name, the date of release, and a time index for finding the quote: (Smith 2002, 00:00:00). This essay must be approximately 3-6 pages (minimum of 1000 words). Grading will be based on: 1) Quality of Thesis (in this case your thesis will include at least one principle of CST and will offer a critical perspective on some aspect of the film); 2) Quality and depth of analysis of film and sources, and 3) APA formatting and grammar.
