DescriptionEfforts to address conflicts, social injustices, inequalities and poverty both athome (Australia) and abroad through the United Nations and significant NonGovernment Organisations have produced mixed results. In this work studentswill examine an issue on vulnerable persons and groups and discuss and critiqueefforts by the UN, Governments and Non-Government Organisations to addressand alleviate these social problems so as to achieve peace and encourage/enabledevelopment.Describe the social conditions (eg. institutions, socialvalues, cultural practices, beliefs, attitudes, conflicts etc.)that interact to produce vulnerable groups and discussstrategies that can be implemented by Nation States toassist these vulnerable groups. Your answer must use twoof the vulnerable groups presented in Modules (8-12) asdetailed illustrations of your argument. Students mayaddress the vulnerable groups separately (eg. Women andthe Disabled); or students may choose to focus upon theintersection of the vulnerable groups (eg. DisabledWomen) either option is acceptable.
