To critically analyse research studies to provide a clinical evidence based rationale for prescribing Ramipril to the patient .

DescriptionName-JamesPresenting complaints- A 50yr old male, newly diagnosed with raised blood pressure.History of presenting complaints-James came to the surgery about 3 weeks ago , complaining of headache in the last one week prior to his attendance.Past medical/ surgical history- None.Social and family history Ethnicity- White British Lives in a furnished apartment with his wife, 2 children. No pets.Smoke cigarette. 10/day.Drinks occasionally.Obese , willing and ready to lose weight His father and mother has history of raised b.pSpend leisure time watching television Questions were asked to make differential diagnosis of the type of headache . Tension headache and migraine headaches were excluded.Headache with no loss of consciousness or seizure accompanying the headache ruling out subarachnoid haemorrhage was also excluded.On completion of a through history taking and physical examinations , following NICE guidelines and BNF bearing in mind the ethnicity and age of the patient, with a shared decision making with the patient, I have decided to prescribe Ramipril 2.5mg capsules .Dose – One capsule daily for one month.
